Tweetchats
Tweetchats are best described as virtual meetings held on Twitter.
Wellness Council of Iowa Tweetchats are moderated and typically last one hour and cover a few selected topics. Throughout the chat, participants use a hashtag, a unique identifier for the chat. By adding this hashtag to every tweet, you make sure other participants see your responses.
The Wellness Council of Iowa Tweetchat hashtag will be “#iawellnesscounc”.

TWEETCHAT 101:
Getting ready
- If you don’t already have a Twitter account, sign up at www.twitter.com.
- Before the Tweetchat begins, log onto www.tweetchat.com, using your Twitter login. When you use Tweetchat.com, you see only theposts related to the Tweetchat we’re hosting and the application automatically adds our hashtag to your tweets, once you’ve signed in.
Participating
- An agenda will be established prior to the event, and will be posted above with the schedule.
- At 12:00 CST on the day of the event, the moderator will launch the Tweetchat. The format is always the same: each participant introduces themselves in a tweet, the moderator kicks off the chat with the first question, participants discuss topics.
- To help keep track of the conversation’s, we mark each question with a number. This becomes important as the Tweetchat progressses when multiple conversation streams are going on at the same time. For example, let’s say Financial Wellness is our main topic. When we kick off the first question, we’ll mark it with a number (Q1). And when you respond, you’ll include that same number so people know what you’re responding to. Example:
First topic: “Q1: How are you engaging your employees in financial wellness activities?”
Your response: “A1: At Acme Printing we hold quarterly seminars on miscellaneous financial subjects.”
