Describe your main business:
Meredith  is one of the nation’s leading media and marketing companies with businesses centering on magazine and book publishing, television broadcasting, integrated marketing and interactive media.

Briefly describe your wellness program:
The program was formally established in 2006 with goals to lower health risks, among employees and families, identify and offer support to participants with elevated health risks and manage health care premium cost increases by improving health. The key initiatives are to provide annual wellness screenings, coaching programs, campaigns and interventions based on employee need, and a wellness points and reimbursements program.

Approximately when did you begin a wellness program at your company:
2006, although we have had an onsite medical clinic at Meredith since the 1920’s.

What has been your greatest challenge in wellness within your company:
Engaging employees across locations in 22 states with various work cultures.

What goals do you have for 2011 for company wellness:

  • 90% unique participation in the wellness program
  • 60% unique participation in one or more financial workshops
  • Maintain an 80% quit rate in our tobacco cessation program
  • Continue to flatten the slope of health care cost increases

What is one idea/lesson that you have learned about wellness within your own company that you would like to share with other people:
Leverage technology to engage employees and simplify program administration.
